How it is calculated

We start from a climate BTU-per-square-foot rate (about 25 warm / 35 moderate / 50 cold) and multiply by the area, then adjust ±15-20% for insulation. It's a planning estimate; precise equipment sizing uses a Manual J load calculation accounting for windows, ceilings and air leakage.
